"I had been working out consistently for about a year and eating health(ier) before finding Badger Fit. I got in the best possible shape I could on my own but couldn't get "over the hump" or get my nutrition right. I couldn't get rid of my mid-section no matter what I did!! “I have lifted weights and ran all my life. Whenever I used to out on weight, I would amp up my mileage to compensate and lose the weight I had gained. In April 2013 I had reconstructive surgery on my right knee again, which led the orthopedic surgeon to recommend that I no longer run for fear that a knee replacement would be shortly down the road if I continued to do so. Fast forward to September 2013 I had put on weight and needed a change. Todd put together a customized diet for me. All I had to do was follow the plan and get results. No magic pills, no secret workouts, just eating normal food in measured quantities. I continued to exercise as normal, and the weight came right off without losing any muscle mass. "In September 2012 I decided it was time to make a change in my life. I was 30 pounds overweight. I felt full and miserable all of the time, my clothes were tight and I couldn’t stand how I looked anymore. This is when I met Todd McGonigal of Badger Fit, he changed my life! Todd sat down with me and basically interviewed me not the other way around. He asked me what my priorities were. What are my expectations? What am I looking for in a trainer? And finally the really big questions, am I willing to make sacrifices? Am I willing to make a commitment? Am I ready for a life change? Of note, Carin has struggled with poor balance/stability, gait and stair navigation her whole life as a result of the residual effects of a brain tumor she had surgically removed as a child. “I found Simply Fit/Badger Fit by accident. I ordered pizza (ironic in many ways) from a pizza place that I had not ordered from in a few months. When I pulled in to pick up the pizza I parked in front of Simply Fit gym. I looked online and could not find any information on this place. I looked in the window and saw several trophies and an impressive array of workout machines and equipment. When I went to pick up my pizza I saw Todd's business cards sitting there. The employee told me they were for the private gym next-door. I took the card. I told my wife, Jill, about it when I got back to the truck. After pondering things for a couple of days, I called Todd. We set up a meeting at the gym. We were SO impressed by the gym, Todd and the atmosphere/feeling that we knew we wanted to join. My wife and I fell in love with it instantly. After being members for a few months we decided that we wanted to start a meal plan with Todd. He was eager to get us started on the next steps in our fitness journey. On January 6th we started a journey that would change our lives forever.
In the photos you see me at the start of the journey and where I was only 4 months and 17 days later. The transformation is incredible. Todd asked me just about halfway through to consider “one day maybe doing a body-building show." Little did he know that it was something that I had always wanted to do. The pictures show you how far my journey so far with Badger Fit has taken me. I lost 35 pounds and 14 3/8 inches of fat off of my body. My blood pressure and cholesterol were normal for the first time in my life. I have never felt or looked better. “This may seem to many like a biased opinion written for the purposes of promoting my own husband, but the pictures above don’t lie...Todd McGonigal is a true guru at what he does. His knowledge of nutrition combined with his personal experience as a high-level competitor, his extensive personal training and coaching history, and his passion for helping others achieve greatness are evident in many other testimonials both written and unwritten. I was headed down a bad path physically and mentally just a few years ago. At my highest weight ever of 223 lbs, my confidence was at an all-time low, and my attitude and life reflected that. I had managed to get down to 195 on my own by doing the Whole 30 diet thing (which was a good start, and I recommend the book to my patients as a resource on eating healthy in general all the time), but was no where close to where I wanted to be in any way. But all joking aside, one of the qualities I love most about him is his ability to see and bring out the best in people. He functions not only as a personal trainer but also as a counselor and a close friend and confidant to many of his clients.
